Below is a list of my coursework during my time at Clemson University as part of the LAIB program.

Language-Oriented Instruction


SPAN 3020- Intermediate Spanish Grammar and Composition

 

This course is simply designed to improve Spanish writing and grammar skills.  It included many grammatical exercises and studying of news articles or videos as part of an effort to improve our fluency levels.


SPAN 3050- Intermediate Spanish Conversation and Composition I

 

This course consisted largely of reviewing grammatical concepts in order to fine-tune our writing and speaking skills.  Watching short films, reading stories, as well as group discussions were the primary focus of this course.

SPAN 3140-
Hispanic Linguistics

 

We studied advanced linguistic and grammatical concepts such as syntax, phonology, and convergence.

SPAN 3160-
Spanish for International Business I

During this course, we studied a variety of topics including business vocabulary and themes through reading various news articles and having group discussions.  Furthermore, we had a semester-long group project in which we had to create a business and incorporate each of the themes we previously studied.

SPAN 4160-
Spanish for International Business II

This course is intended to further the previous business concepts and vocabulary.  Analyzing and creating case studies was the primary foundation of this course, as well as multiple group projects designed to do a deep-dive into the cultural environment of the Spanish-speaking business world.

SPAN 3160-
Spanish for International Business I

Culture & Literature Courses


SPAN 3070-
The Hispanic World: Spain

 

We studied the history of Spain from the Roman regime to the Franco dictatorship, as well as how those times shaped current events today.  Through traditional lectures, class discussions, as well as news articles, this course gave students a deeper understanding of the Hispanic World and culture.


SPAN 3130-
Spanish Literature Survey

 

This class was a brief study of a variety of works of Spanish literature such as The Lay of the Cid, La Celestina, and The Force of Love.  Studying and analyzing these works, reflecting as a group, as well as writing essays were the foundation of this course.


SPAN 4070-
Hispanic Film

 

Taken while abroad, Hispanic Film was a detailed look at several culturally significant films of Spain, specifically films that contributed to the feminist movement.  Examining film techniques such as camera angle, lighting, and symbolism was the main focus, as well as discussion of the films’ messages and places in society.

Business Courses


ACCT 2010-
Financial Accounting Concepts

 

This course gives a basic glimpse at the basic principles of accounting through examining financial statements and data.

MGT 2010-
Principles of Management

​Served as an introduction to management concepts such as team and organizational structures as well as business procedures.

MKT 3010-
Principles of Marketing

This class was an overview of marketing concepts, particularly those of placing, pricing, and promoting.

MKT 3020-
Consumer Behavior

Served as a deeper understanding of marketing principles, specifically consumer habits and psychology.



MGT 4230- International Business Management

 

This course was a deep-dive on management principles in a global context as well as the addition of more advanced concepts such as foreign direct investment, currency exchange, and cultural literacy.

MKT 4270- International Marketing

A more detailed examination of marketing concepts in an international context.  This course emphasized the importance of utilizing specific cultural contexts and human behavioral patterns in order to target different markets across the globe.

Other Courses


ENGL 3040-
Business Writing

This class was an introduction to the concepts of professional writing and business rhetoric, specifically that of resumes, cover letters, and emails.


PSYC 2010- Introduction to Psychology

​This course served as an overview of basic psychological principles.  Looking at historical studies as well as real-world examples, we gained a better understanding of human behavior and mentality.


ECON 2110-
Principles of Microeconomics

An introductory course into basic economic concepts, human behaviors and decision making.  The ability to think critically and logically was the overall goal of this course.


ECON 3140- Intermediate Microeconomics

We built on the principles learned in the introductory course, this time using more detailed examples and problems in order to understand their application.


ECON 2120-
Principles of Macroeconomics

Served as an introduction to the concepts of macroeconomics, and as such we studied themes such as income, employment, government decisions, and trade.


ECON 3100- International Economics

We studied the same macroeconomic principles in an international context.  A closer look at global trade and how it can make countries better off was the primary emphasis.
